FAQ

Common Bamboo Lab questions

Is Bamboo3DPrinter part of Bamboo Lab?

No. Bamboo3DPrinter is an independent site. We are not owned by, sponsored by or affiliated with Bamboo Lab. Bamboo Lab and its product names are trademarks of their owner.

Which Bamboo Lab printer is best for beginners?

The A1 mini and A1 are the easiest place to start. They are simple to set up, quiet and forgiving. If you want to print ABS or ASA later, an enclosed model such as the P1S is a better long term choice.

Do I need the AMS?

No. Every model prints well with a single spool. The AMS adds multicolor printing, automatic spool switching and dry storage for loaded filament, which is useful but optional.

Can I use third party filament?

Yes. Bamboo Lab printers work with most quality filaments. Choose a matching generic profile in Bamboo Studio and run a flow calibration for the best results.

Which models can print ABS, ASA and nylon?

Enclosed printers such as the X1 Carbon, P1S and H2D handle these materials best because they hold heat and reduce warping. For abrasive filaments like carbon fiber blends, use a hardened steel nozzle.

How often should I do maintenance?

Clean the build plate before most prints and do a quick check of the nozzle, rods and belts every few weeks. Our maintenance guides list what to do for each model.
